Empire magazine is reporting that John Krasinski is currently writing a sequel to the excellent (and one of my top films of the year) A Quiet Place. He wasn’t originally set to write/direct a sequel but said:
“I told [producer] Drew Form about this little idea,” recalls Krasinski. “And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”
I’m not sure how I feel about this. The film is a brilliantly written and directed piece. However, its a very small story that works on its own. If you widen the reach for a sequel, then some of the issues that could be ignored, in the original, may become too much of a problem. The storytelling and tension were so good that I didn’t mind any plot holes that were lurking. But I like John Krasinski’s work and so remain hopeful if this does go ahead.
