Breaking Free

Jordan, a man working a traditional desk job questions his lifestyle as he strongly believes that adults are boring. He and his co-worker-his best friend try to spice things up to combat the mundane environment. Their aim is to awaken their childhood curiosity and they do that by approaching things as they did when they were young. They start playing child games but one daring idea comes up and they quickly regret it as it backfires badly.

About

Writing good comedy is very difficult. I tried with this project to find a balance between visuals and speech comedy. I was lucky to cast a great actor and work with a great crew who really put their hearts and souls into it.

Even though this is a comedy, the film has a deeper message to it. What happens if you don’t take life too seriously? Do you find fulfilment in your job? It also touches upon how being an adult is a very different world then the good old days in your childhood where you weren’t judged as easily by people and where you were would take more risks because of that freedom it allows you to be. Choosing the wrong path, and maybe to encourage in a way to question where you are in life and if you are okay, happy and feel fulfilled with what you do.

I was inspired writing this script from my own experience where traditional school wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, and it’s where I discovered my passion for film. I would create films alongside my already time-consuming schoolwork during my time at school. I promised myself, no matter how I do it, I will always do what I love. After all, your job is a major part of the way you live your life, so why not make the best of it?
